I don't have words to fully express my perspective on all of our current events... but it is my life's work to offer tools for peacemaking. That's what Mindful Improv is really about: cultivating peace inside ourselves and then as a natural consequence, cultivating peace in our surroundings.
For reasons outlined in the Mindful Improv Manifesto, I have chosen to focus my peacemaking initiatives in places of work, with leaders who are deeply committed to their people. It's my goal to serve them abundantly with creative, thoughtful, heart-centered approaches to doing the work that really matters in creating cultures that look like their core values... consistently.
Consistently means: not just when it's comfortable. Consistently means: not just when it doesn't feel political. Consistently means EVERY. DAY.
In an effort to continue serving my audience of heart centered culture advocates, I have been planning a Monday #LunchAndBreathe series on LinkedIn Live ... just <30 mins or so depending on conversation to offer some mindful improv tools on various topics for being who you intend to be at work.
I had a plan for the first one, but given all that is happening in the world right now, I decided to shift gears and teach about what's really on my heart: helping unwoke but well-meaning white people DO BETTER.
Can I be really vulnerable here? I HAVE BEEN THAT IGNORANT WHITE PERSON. I had A LOT of learning to do (and still do!) ... I said/did/subconsciously believed things that were hurtful.
Ugh... I really hate that. But it's true.
... and I learned. I've been examining what helped me learn/grow for a long time now and through that exploration, I've come to a different process for confrontation AKA growth invitation. I've been teaching it in churches, offices, community centers, etc: wherever people will listen, and for my first ever #LunchAndBreathe, I want to share it with you.
If you're feeling heartbroken, outraged and like you want to scream at every 3rd person on the internet and 1/2 of your family... I get that. If you'd like to learn a different, mindful improv-infused approach to inviting growth, and battling ignorance without battling PEOPLE, you can watch a replay of the LinkedIn Live from earlier today below.
Love and peace to each of you,
PS: This was the first of a new series I'll be doing weekly on LinkedIn Live called #LunchAndBreathe. Tune in on my LinkedIn every Monday at 12pm for Mindful Improv advice for heart-centered leaders and culture stakeholders.
